Spaghetti with Meat Sauce
Sometimes a simple meat sauce is just perfect.
Ingredients:
Italian sausage-1 lb.
hamburger-1lb (at least 90/10)
1 yellow onion-finely chopped
3-5 garlic cloves-finely chopped
1 large 28 oz can tomato sauce
dried oregano-2 tsp
dried basil-2 tsp
dried parsley-1tsp
1 box thin spaghetti
parmesan cheese (optional)
Directions:
Brown the hamburger and Italian sausage in a large pot. Add the chopped onion and garlic and thoroughly mix. Add a;; pf the spices as well as 1 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of black pepper, mix well. Add in the tomato sauce.
Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat. Once really bubbling, turn the heat down to low and put the lid on. Allow to simmer for AT LEAST 20 minutes, stirring halfway through.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Once boiling, salt the water with 2 tbsp salt and add the pox of pasta. Cook till just a hair before al dente.
Don’t worry about draining the pasta. Using tongs or forks, move the noodles from the pasta water to the sauce pot. It’s okay (even wanted) for that extra pasta water to get mix with the sauce. Throughly toss the noodles with the sauce and get everythign well coated, paying attention to include the meat, not just the liquid sauce.
Sprinkle the top with paremsan cheese, if desired, and enjoy!
